The installation of a 5 cm-thick external thermal insulation façade on three sides of the two-story residential building in Mastaba, Heraklion, was combined with complete roof insulation and waterproofing. To enhance durability and provide long-term protection, crack-prevention measures were applied to the parapets of the balconies and garden.
Additionally, a section of the balcony was extended using a steel truss structure beneath the existing balcony, while the floor level difference was covered with cement screed, ensuring greater comfort and functionality in the outdoor space.
The result improves the building’s energy efficiency, provides long-term protection, and makes full use of the exterior areas.
